Southpaw

The camera shots that is most effective are the close up's of one of Billy Hope's (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) assistance wrapping up his hand's ready for the bi fight. when they are close up on his hands you can really see the concentration and determination in his face.
In the first scene Billy is listening to upbeat fast music to put him in a upbeat and determined mind set, this makes the audience feels like they are in Billy's head. When the music from the head phones got quitter you could start to hear the sounds surrounding him, his friends talking, his manager on the phone, you could also hear the sound of the tape unravelling as his assistance wrapped it around Billy's hand.
The pace of editing is slow as the camera was mainly on the main character Billy as he was getting ready for the fight. The camera also shown Billy's friends as they watched as each of them held one of Billy's winning belts from previous fights.
The main character Billy was wearing boxing shorts and boxing gloves, this shows the audience that Billy the main character is a boxer, they can tell by what he was wearing. His friends was wearing what looked like track suite bottoms and a white t-shirt with a white bomber jacket over the top, the bomber jacket had three white stripes down each arm.
From the first scene we find out that the storyline is about a boxer and his carer. We also find out that Billy has wife and a daughter, we find this out to the fact that his wife Maureen ( played by Rachel McAdams) was on the phone to there daughter as she walked into the changing room.
We know that one of the genres is sports, we know this due to the fact that boxing is a sport. the other genre is action you cant really tell this from the beginning scene but as the film goes on you can begin to tell that the other genre is action.
